Reves under new direction
Mitchell Reiss, director of the Reves Center for International Studies, left Williamsburg for Washington, D.C., where he has been appointed to a post in the U.S. State Department under Secretary Colin Powell.

New Campus project disrupts foot traffic
The floors of Morton have all been a little muddier than usual these past two weeks. Students walking through New Campus, particularly near Morton, may have noticed that some areas normally covered with greenery currently bare dirt and squares of sod.

Student Assembly Elections
Elections will be held Sept. 11 for all freshmen class positions as well as treasurer for the sophomore and junior classes. Voting will take place at sin.wm.edu from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Campaigning is not permitted on the day of elections.

Fla. pro-lifer executed
(U-WIRE) STARKE, Fla. — A sea of yellow balloons floated slowly into the dark sky Wednesday evening as supporters of convicted murderer Paul Hill honored his life until the moment he took his last breaths and died.

In his final statement, Hill thanked the Lord for his loving sisters, wife, daughters and parents.

Alum returns to greet class
Last Friday’s Opening Convocation ceremony was the official start of the College’s 311th academic year. James Comey, ’82, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony, which included brief remarks by Provost Geoffrey P. Feiss and President Timothy J. Sullivan.
