Men’s soccer falls to Scarlet Knights
Men’s soccer lost to the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights Aug. 30 on Barksdale Field in their first home opener on a grass field since 1980. The Tribe played most of the game well, keeping the Scarlet Knights scoreless for the first 85 minutes of the 90 minute game while the Tribe, scored two goals.

New faces on football’s starting line-up this fall
When Head Coach Jimmy Laycock rolls out the 2003 version of the W&M football team tomorrow at Division IA opponent Western Michigan University, there will be a few noticeable differences from last year’s squad. For the first time in four years, the offense is not led by David Corley, Class of ‘03.

Women’s soccer record tied after upset against UVA Cavaliers, 2-1
Sept. 1, women’s soccer fell to 11th-ranked University of Virginia, 2-1. Virginia forward Kelly Hammond scored the winning goal in the final four minutes of the game, breaking a 1-1 tie, giving the Virginia Cavaliers a narrow 2-1 victory of the Tribe.

Tribe starts season with even record
The W&M field hockey team opened their season last week with two games against tough opponents. They came out of the weekend with a 1-1 record and a lot to look forward to for the rest of the season.

The W&M volleyball team faced a disappointing end to last weekend’s Billiken Invitational at St. Louis University. Competing on Sunday, the team lost matches against both Purdue University and St. Louis with 3-0 counts.
