Men’s golf tees up for another season
When new director of golf, Jay Albaugh spoke of the upcoming season for the W&M men’s golf team, his voice filled with optimism.

Field hockey defeats two rivals, ranks 18th
The Field Hockey team was ranked 18th in the nation by college coaches across the country, according to a National Field Hockey Coach’s Association poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Tribe looked to improve that ranking with two impressive wins this past week against difficult opponents.

Good nights sleep outweighs W&M football
Want to know a filthy little secret? Yeah, I thought so. Here it goes: I’ve never been to a Tribe football game. Or any Tribe athletic event, for that matter, unless you count intramural sports, which I’ve attended (but only as a participant, never as a spectator).

Women’s soccer extiguish Flames bringing season record to 2-2
Last Friday W&M’s women’s soccer team fell to 24th ranked University of Maryland, 2-1, in a close match. Leading for most of the game, the Tribe wasn’t able to hold on, allowing the resurgent Terrapins to net two goals in the last ten minutes of play to take the game.

The Tribe volleyball team displayed the power of home-court advantage by dominating all three of their matches at last weekend’s William & Mary Invitational.

Tribe beats Duke and NC — State 2-1
Tribe men’s soccer team scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of play on the Sept. 7 game and held the lead for the rest of the game to defeat North Carolina State University, 2-1, in the Duke/adidas Soccer Classic at Koskinen Stadium.

Football fumbles season opener against Western Michigan 56-24
The W&M football team’s season opening loss during the night game Sept. 6 against Division IA Western Michigan University was the type of contest in which sports fans know the final score doesn’t do the game justice.
Women’s golf ties for 18th in first Fall season tournament
The W&M women’s golf team began their season this past weekend, Sept.. 5 to 7, by playing in the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic Tournament. The three-round tournament was held at the Bay Tree Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC.
