Director Dahl triumphs in ‘Great’ POW drama
Though they occasionally pass over the silver screen in a flash of intense and fleeting brilliance, serious war movies are a rarity in modern Hollywood. When they do come, they are often left to stand in the shadows of more light-hearted flicks (who doesn’t remember the year “Shakespeare in Love” beat out “Saving Private Ryan”?).
