Coaches' salaries unequal
The William and Mary Athletic Department released it's annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure report in October, which brought to light the fact that on average, head coaches for women's athletics teams are paid $15,566 per year less than their counterparts on men's teams. Athletics Director Terry Driscoll insists that these figures do not represent a gender bias on the part of the College.

Football falters in NCAA playoffs
The Tribe was defeated 40-27 last Saturday by Appalachian State University. Despite this loss, W&M's record improved from last season and they had playoff experience for the first time in five years.

Men's basketball defeats Akron
The men's basketball team pulled a 74-62 victory over the University of Akron. The win came after a 75-58 loss to nationally-ranked Purdue University.

Junior guard Jami Lange communicates with her teammates as she dribbles the ball past an Iona College opponent. Lange scored six of the Tribe's 65 points in the victory.


Women triumph over Iona
The W&M women won their first home game 65-47 against Iona College. The Tribe forced 30 turnovers, compared to the 21 that they gave up, consistent with their season turnover trend.

First NCAA trip ends in 3-0 loss
The Tribe's first NCAA tournament in history ended with a 3-0 defeat by Duke University. In spite of the team's loss, several individuals on the team had strong games.

Sports Shorts: Women sixth, men 12th in swimming and diving meet
The Tribe swimmers spent last Sunday at the Miami University Invitational, competing in 42 events with 16 other schools.
