Cuts less severe than predicted
The Virginia General Assembly approved the 2002-2004 state budget, cutting the College's funding by more than $16 million over the next two-and-a-half years. But the budget also funds campus construction projects, creates an employee salary bonus and grants tuition flexibility.
Burnett wins SA election
Junior Linsay Burnett was elected Student Assembly President Feb. 27. As one of her first initiatives, she plans to urge to College to implement the green audit and create a cabinet.
Registrar announces changes
Budgetary uncertainties have caused undergraduate registration for the Fall 2002 semester to be delayed until the week of April 8. This delay involved both the adjustment of course offerings and the impending implementation of an integrated student information system.

Housing demand increases
The Office of Residence Life has requested 428 undergraduate students to voluntarily bump themselves from the room selection due to the increase in demand that exceeds the availability of on-campus housing. The residents of Barrett Hall and freshmen who lived in an overcrowd triple in the Botetourt Complex will be protected from the bumping process this year.
