shows drop in
crime

Recent statistics released by the College report that for the years from 1998 to 2000, crime rates overall have decreased. These numbers do not, however, include the most recent crimes involving sexual offenses, intruders and violent crimes that have occurred this semester.

Barrett Hall
remodeling
progresses on
schedule

The displaced residents of Barrett Hall will be able to move their belongings into the dormitory beginning Dec. 7, as projected by the Office of Residence Life. Meanwhile, renovations, including the removal of asbestos, continue on the residence hall.

Donations increase
The College has set yet another record for donations and contributions made during the 2000-2001 fiscal year, with a total of $36.8 million. The money came from various sources, including gifts from alumni, friends, parents of students, foundations and corporations.


An electrician works to install new wiring into the walls of Barrett Hall, the renovation of which is nearing completion.

Gilmore cites
weather, cancels
bonfire

The Homecoming bonfire, scheduled to take place Oct. 26 on Yates Field, was cancelled by Gov., James Gilmore. All outdoor burnings were forbade in Virginia due to a recent lack of rainfall.


Students to fast 56 hours to protest
bombings

Over ten students will fast for 56 hours next week in order to protest the U.S. bombings in Afghanistan. This Fast for Peace takes place concurrently with fasts at other colleges throughout the nation.
