BOV discusses Strategic Plan
The first part of the Board of Visitors Meeting yesterday took place yesterday. High on the agenda was how the College's lack of funding not only affects building projects, but also the recruitment of faculty and graduate students as well.

Gilmore repeals car tax relief
Gov. James Gilmore repealed his no-car tax initiative this week due to a lack of funds throughout the commonewealth. Yet the College will probably not see any of the extra money that comes with this repeal.

Integration efforts approved by DOE
Virginia's higher educational institutions have finally been approved by the Department of Education's desegragation commission,. Part of this approval is contingent on Gov. Gilmore's funding of VSU and Norfolk State University.


The Up 'Til Dawn All Night Philanthropic Extravaganza took place Nov. 10, providing a night of fun and fundraising.


All Night Long
Up Til Dawn took place last weekend, an all night fund-raiser to benefit St. Jude's Children hospital. And because of the success of this year's event, next year's planning is already underway.


NATO Allied commander visits
Former NATO commander Perowne came to the College yesterday to discuss NATO's role in world security. He related much of NATO's role to the current situation in Afghanistan.

ACLU discusses civil liberties
A representative from the ACLU as well as College faculty held a teach-in Wednesday evening. They discussed how the Sept. 11 attacks have affected civil liberties in the United States.

Poll analyst explains tactics
Assistant Director of Polling at the Washington Post lectured at the UC yesterday. Much of her presentation focused on the use of polling and public opinion changes that took place after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Paper Protest
Tuesday morning, SEAC, the Student Environmental Action Committe, staged a protest against Staples, a nation-wide office supply retail sales corporation. The group congregated at Staples' Richmond Road location in Williamsburg.

O'Leary, secretary of energy during the Clinton administration, came to the College yesterday. She focused primarily on her experience as a cabinet member as well as an undergraduate.
