College urges safety in wake of rape
A senior student called campus poice from an emergency phone last Friday to report that she had been raped in the woods by the Student Health Center. While the assailant has not been identified, the College is urging students to take precautions to assure their safety.


Senate proposes split
The Student Assembly Senate is proposing a split from the Graduate Council in its first meeting of the year. The SA presented the motion for separation due to a lack of activity on the part of the Graduate Council.


Freshmen to elect leaders
Freshmen will elect their class officers and representatives to the Student Assembly Tuesday. The deadline for nominations was extended after the SA decided that freshmen were not aware of the original deadline.

Cheese Shop, CW stores to move
The Cheese Shop will move from its current location on Prince George Street to the Duke of Gloucester Street next June. Other businesses in the Colonial Williamsburg area will also be changing locations as well.

Possibility of lights for Zable explored
The College's athletic department is considering purchasing $300,000 lighting for Zable Stadium. According to the department, the improvement will help increase attendance of sporting events.


Italian professor gets job back
Despite many students' belief that popular Italian professor Theresa Johansson would be fired, she remains at the College for this year. However, because she is not eligible for tenure, this will be her last year at the College.

Squires acquires Band Box
After the popular music and video store, The Band Box, went out of business last summer, the owner of Squires and Echoes music stores bought the rights to the Band Box. While some of the most popular features of the Band Box may not return, the store's name may be resurrected.

Dining services updates menu
A new director of Dining Services brought innovations to campus dining facilites this year. Dining Services hopes that the changes will improve the quality and selection of meal options.
